## How Klaviyo calculates your bill

According to [How Klaviyo pricing works](https://www.klaviyo.com/platform/how-klaviyo-pricing-works):

- **Active profiles.** Email is billed on reachable contacts. Unsubscribed and suppressed contacts don't count. Cleaning your list can therefore drop you a tier.
- **Send capacity.** Each tier includes a monthly send volume. With flexible sending on, if you exceed it, you can temporarily get the next tier's send capacity at your current unit rate. It returns to normal the next cycle.
- **Contact overages.** If your active profiles exceed your tier, the account moves to a compliant plan at the next billing cycle.
- **Auto downgrade.** If your active profiles fall below a tier, auto downgrade moves you to the lower tier at the next cycle. It can't run alongside send-based auto upgrades.
- **SMS billed separately.** SMS, MMS, WhatsApp and RCS are billed separately from email: you commit to a spend amount that burns down as you send, with rates that vary by message type and country.

These rules apply to month-to-month customers.

## What this means for a 25,000-contact list

1. **Count active profiles, not your raw list.** If part of your 25,000 contacts is unsubscribed or suppressed, you pay a lower tier.
2. **Add SMS separately.** The email price doesn't cover SMS. The SMS plan starts at $15/month for 1,250 credits on the [Shopify App Store listing](https://apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing).
3. **Plan for growth.** If your list grows during the year, your plan moves up at the next cycle: calculate your 12-month bill with the tier you'll reach, not today's.

**Omnisend** sets its price with a list-size slider; above 150,000 contacts, it's a custom quote. The Standard plan allows up to 12 times your list size in emails per month.
